深圳佛教新闻网讯:据海外媒体报道,近日,阿富汗考古学家对外宣布,在阿富汗首都喀布尔发现了一尊15世纪古佛像。
此佛像是一尊坐佛,有一人高,肩膀以下完好无损,但其头部却已丢失。佛像于2009年4月份在Naranj Hill一年代久远的寺院遗址被发现,但消息在近日才向外公布。
据悉,该寺院的挖掘工作已进行数年,出土了20多尊古雕像。
阿富汗储存了丰富的古代文物,但因常年的战争和忽视,很多都已被盗或毁坏。(编译:子规)
Afghan archaeologists have discovered an ancient statue of Buddha in the capital Kabul.
The statue which is believed to date from around the fifth century, was found at the site of a pre-Islamic temple in April but only made public this week.
The statue which is in a sitting position and the height of a normal man is intact from the upper arms downwards but its head is missing.
The temple at Naranj Hill has been excavated for years, yielding more than two dozen ancient statues.
